Moving on...

First trimester is officially over tomorrow...I am not sorry to see it go. I am ready to check back in. By that, I mean, I've been pretty "checked out" these past couple months. Not doing a whole lot, just kind of trying to get from day to day, working out when I feel up to it, not making dinners, not pulling my load around here pretty much sums it up. Understandable, yes, but I am ready to ease back into normalcy. Started today off with no throwing up. First time in a LONG TIME.

Got lots to do before the baby comes. Lying on the couch and throwing up ain't gonna get the nursery decorated, Ella's new big girl room done or her potty trained either. She's 100% not interested in that anyway.

Had a nice treadmill run today....little lifting after. Felt pretty good, although once the treadmill gets up to 7.1....starts getting uncomfortable. Bound to happen, right? As I get bigger and bigger, the miles get slower and slower.

Signed E up for preschool in the fall this morning at St. Andrew's. I loved it there, bright rooms, lots of books, kids all seemed happy to be there and the teachers were really nice. Can't wait for her to go....she threw herself on the floor and cried when we had to leave, good sign.

Are you kidding me????

It does seem like a cruel joke. Getting the stomach flu just as you're FINALLY just about getting over your 6 weeks of morning/all day sickness. More like a kick to the teeth.

But, yes, I guess it was inevitable, but I got Ella's flu on Saturday morning. Thank god Mike's around to care for us sickies, right? At least Mike can keep things running while we're both puking and whining. Well, Mike gets home from his long run Saturday afternoon and heads to the bathroom and guess what? Yep, he's puking, too. Ugh. The Parkers were a mess this weekend.

E and Mike are better today. I am still throwing up, but who knows why? Baby or flu? I am going with baby in the hopes that I am over this BS. :)

Like mother...like daughter

Poor E caught a stomach virus and was up all night over the garbage
can. (she's too short for the kitchen sink, my preferred spot.)

Doc gave her some Zofram (we now both gave prescriptions) for the
nausea and it seems to be working. Tough day on the kid, though. :(

Who knew?

Yes, who knew that swimming would feel so good? I've been in the pool 3 times in the past few weeks. Yes, a record for me as of late. I got really burned out from swimming after the 2007 tri season and could not force myself back into the pool at all. I tried a few times, but after a couple of sets, I was bored, tired and done.

Mike wanted to get back into the pool, so I decided to go keep him company.

Now that my running is getting slower and slower and my biking is um, well, let's just say, I don't know where my bike shoes are right now....the swim has been awesome. Since I really have nothing to compare myself against in the water (being no good in the pool comes in handy when you're pregnant!) I don't feel sorely out of shape. I am not worried about my running shorts being too small, or if I am going too hard, or that 4 miles is a joke...nope, I am just stroking and breathing, stroking and breathing.

The hardest part is getting into a bathing suit 3 months pregnant and not looking pregnant, just fat. But, hey, you're only out of the water a few seconds anyway. Right?

45 mins. in the water today. A measly 1800 yards, but we're going to get more next time!

August 12, 2008

That's a big day for us. Day before Mike's 40th. And....my due date. Yep, we're pregnant! (Although, pretty much everyone that reads this already knows. Not too good about keeping it quiet.)

I am about 12 weeks right now, so just about ending this first (hellish) trimester. I am not one of those lucky women that sail through these first few months without a notice of the little life inside. Nope, I am the one over the sink throwing up (some days) every single thing I eat and drink....then lying almost comatose on the couch, whining. :)

It's been tough, to be honest. I miss my old self. I know it is 100% worth all the sickness and the fatigue come August, but its been a long 6 weeks for all of us. (That's when I started to feel pretty badly.) Not trying to complain too much here, but I would like to have a record of this in case I ever decide that I want to get pregnant again......no, thank you. I thought that this pregnancy would be similar to Ella's, some sickness in the AM, but then feeling okay by 10 or so. No dice.

Enough of the whining....just want to thank everyone for all their help while I was a useless pile of fleece on the couch. My mom and sister made dinners for us and entertained E. (Who, by the way, wants a "sister" and wants to name her "Elise".) Thanks to all of MIke's family who put up with a horrible hostess for Christmas. Thanks for the tips on the morning sickness -- Amanda and Joe. Gatorade and Big Red rock my world these days. Thanks to Mike for doing all my housewife-ly duties that I neglected (and who continues to do them still) while I surf my waves of nausea. Thanks for holding my hand while I throw up, Ella. It is hard to think of something to make me smile during that, but you do.

The good days are around the corner soon. They have to be, right? :)

Snow day...part two

Just in from sledding with a bunch if neighbors. Had a ton of fun...E
went solo a few times and had a blast. Plus, she finally got to make
the "barney snowman" she'd been talking about all week.

First time since we moved here that I've been happy to have the huge
( yet perfect for sledding) hill in our yard.

More snow pictures

Since it NEVER happens here, it was a pretty big deal for us. Enjoy. In
the movie, she's running around and yelling, "WINTERTIME! WINTERTIME!"

Snow Day

Wow...what fun. Just got in from playing in the snow with Ella, Daddy and our neighbors for almost 2 hours. Such a change of pace. The kids were going nuts. Making snowmen, having snowball fights, running around and singing, "Frosty the Snowman" at the tops of their lungs. Wish we had more of this stuff. E cried when we had to go in.

Catching snow on her tongue....

Yes, it is snowing in georgia!

On your mark...

My sister and bro-in-law, Jamie, made the cross town trek from Smyrna
today to get their a$$es handed to them by Jacki Joyner Parker.

Thanks for coming, guys. Good times!

I got new overalls and CRAZY hair!

Getting back..

....into the swing of things after the long holidays. We Parkers like our routines. Mexicali for dinner tonight. Yum. E's back in "school" (aka Creative Play with Roswell Parks Dept.). I had an amazing run today. Just me and Dave (Grohl, of course) pounding out a few hilly miles in Horseshoe Bend. I was so happy to be running today, I couldn't stop smiling. Just awesome.
Mike's down on the trainer. Ahh...feels good to be somewhat normal again.

We're starting the slightly scary talks with people in Asheville to get started on our vacation house. (We bought land up there in the spring to build on.) An exciting thing, yes, but also full of unknowns and lots of mistakes to be made. The thought of a house up there that we can go visit for the weekends and holidays with our friends and family is just so cool.

Ugh. On a mad/sad note. The missing hiker story has just been killing us lately. I can't believe how awfully this turned out, it just keeps getting worse and worse. Her poor parents. I can't even imagine. Makes me want to pull my family in really tight and not let them go.

Beach2Battleship

I am officially jealous. Mike has signed up for the Beach2Battleship half Ironman. Looks like it could be a really cool race. Got a lot going for it....in Wrightsville Beach, NC...in November (so not hot.)....and you get to jump off a barge for the start of the saltwater AND current assisted swim. So cool. No wonder Mike signed up! I think he is going to rock this race. Just needs to get on the stick and get himself a new bike. His Cannondale that he's riding now is too big. He looks super uncomfortable on it.

Been off blogging for a bit there during the holidays...hopefully, back on the wagon now in the new year.
