Doubt

The nasty little bugger crawled in my ear this weekend.

That was a bad race you had there, lady. (Yes, I call myself lady.) You sure you're ready to hurt for 70.3 miles? That was just 13.1 and you didn't handle it all that well, ya know?

Maybe you should just stick to the short stuff? You know, 5k's and 10k's and sprints and Oly's. Leave the longer stuff to the people that are good at it. Not you.

It's like an infection.

It is spreading now. Making my legs tired and my mind weak.

The only cure I know is more racing. And good racing. Smart racing. Fast racing.

I plan on starting myself slowly on a therapy of "following training peaks to a tee" and "not wussing out during any of my key runs and bikes".

That should kick it. No doubt.

yes, I am still reading from sunny TUcson...Kate, one bad race does not define your season or what type of shape you are in. You are being too hard on yourself..heck, YOU had a stomach bug! It is ok....head up! :))

You are really hard on yourself considering you had a stomach bug. I actually think that you are in fantastic shape and super mentally tough if you were able to get through that race while throwing up and sick. That race is just not a relevant measure of your fitness so don't worry about it.

Nothing wrong with a pity party. I indulge in those myself once in a while. But then it is time to move on. You really did amazing given how sick you were!

It's the last 13.1 of the 70.3 that hurt the most and you've already got the perfect training in for suffering on the back half of run. If you can run even a few miles with that monster of a stomach bug I have no doubt you will rock the half ironman.

We all have bad races! Plus, hello? STOMACH BUG! The great thing about a bad race is that there's no place to go but up!
