Why is it so hard to go easy?

My schedule had me doing a 3 miler today. Taper week...easy peasy. 8:30 pace. No sweat, right?

Think again.

I was struggling to get this done. Not physically, but mentally. Thinking...ugh, what is the point?
I am so bad at tapering. I fee like if I am only running (or biking or swimming) a little bit or at an easy pace, then I don't want to do it.

Not one bit.

I would trade an easy 3 miler for a hard 8 mile interval run that I sweat through my shirt (when the sweat from the bottom meets the sweat from the top....THAT is my measure of a good workout.)

Nuts.

I'm totally with you. It's like, 3 miles easy isn't even worth doing because of the shower you still have to take afterward...

I am the same way. I don't feel like it's a workout unless at least once I feel like I might puke. According to most everyone I know this means we aren't normal.
